Xiaomi has announced the portable Xiaomi Yi Action Camera which is also waterproof and is a more affordable competition to the Go Pro camera. The camera is only available in China for now for CNY 399 (equivalent to around US$ 64).
The Xiaomi Yi Action Camera packs 16MP Sony Exmor R BSI CMOS image sensor, 1080p video recording at 60fps, 64GB space of storage and just like the Go Pro camera it can also survive to around 40 metres under water.
It weighs just 72 grams and comes with a smartphone app which allows for easily control the camera, share and edit photos, panoramas and the likes. The app is available on the Xiaomi official website.
The Xiaomi Yi Action Camera alone costs CNY 399; with the inclusion of the Selfie rod the price goes up to CNY 499. The Camera would be available in China as expected and would only be available via a series of flash sales.
