Xiaomi has finally officially announced the Xiaomi Mi 4c in its home country – China. The Mi 4c has basically the Xiaomi Mi 4i but comes with more power; it will be available starting September 23rd (Tomorrow) from Mi.com and on TMall in Black, Blue, Orange, Pink and White colour options.
By replacing the i (India) in the Mi 4i, the ‘c’ in the name could mean China – due to its exclusivity to the nation , or Colours – due to the number of available body paint options or could even be attributed to the addition of Type-C USB port.
The Xiaomi Mi 4c sports a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) FHD display with a pixel density of 441ppi, the display is usable under sunlight and the device maintains the same matte polycarbonate body build.
Under the hood, it is now powered by a 64-bit Hexa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor clocked at 1.8GHz paired with Adreno 418 compared to the octa-core Qualcomm snapdragon 615 on the Xiaomi Mi 4i. A 13MP PDAF camera and a front facing 5MP camera with wide angle lens for selfies are both onboard for handling photography.
The Dual SIM enabled Xiaomi Mi 4c comes with standard connectivity options including 4G LTE but replaces the microUSB port with a USB Type-C Port. It measures 138.1 x 69.6 x 7.8mm in dimensions, weighs 132 grams and runs MIUI 6 with promised upgrade to MIUI 7 (based on Android Lollipop OS) in a couple of weeks time.
The whole package is backed by a 3080mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 for fast charging. Additional features on the device includes the Edge Tap, Double Tap and IR Blaster.
With the Edge Tap feature, users only have to tap the edge of the device to take a selfie and double tap the Edge to go back; Double tapping on the screen wakes up the display while the IR Blaster makes the device usable as a remote control for home appliances.
The Xiaomi Mi 4c is available in two variants – the 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage sells for CNY 1299 ($204) while the 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage combo sells for CNY 1499 ($235) in five colour options.
