At the Xiaomi Global Launch event yesterday in Spain, Xiaomi announced two new smartphones based on Google’s Android One program: the Xiaomi Mi A2, successor to last year’s Mi A1 and the lite version – Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite. The duo will be available in over 40 markets globally starting with Spain.
Xiaomi Mi A2
The Mi A2 seems to be the global version of the Xiaomi MI 6X. It sports a unibody metal design, 5.99-inch FHD+ 19:9 FullScreen display, 4GB/6GB of RAM, 32GB/64GB/128GB built-in storage space, USB Type-C audio, rear fingerprint sensor and a 3,010mAh battery.
Photography is handled by a rear 12MP camera with Sony IMX486 sensor and f/1.75 aperture alongside a secondary 20MP camera with Sony IMX376 sensor to capture depth information for portrait shots. The front camera has a 20MP Sony IMX376 sensor with soft LED flash and AI beautification.
The front and rear 20MP sensor uses the pixel binning technology to create a single, large 2.0µm pixel. Internally, the Xiaomi Mi A2 relies on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor and comes pre-loaded with Android Oreo OS (with scheduled regular updates directly from Google).
Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite
The Mi A2 Lite has a notched 5.84-inch FHD+ 19:9 FullScreen display, 12MP (f/2.2, 1.25um pixels, Sony IMX486) + 5MP (f/2.2, 1.12um Samsung S5K5E8) AI dual rear cameras, front facing 5MP camera with AI Face portrait and face unlock, 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB built-in storage.
It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor and also has Dual SIM slots, a rear fingerprint sensor, 3.5mm audio jack and a 4,000mAh battery, which promises up to 6 hrs of continuous gaming and 34 hours of music playback time.
Pricing Details
- The Xiaomi Mi A2 is priced at EUR 249 (~USD 291) for the 4GB/32GB model; EUR 279 (~USD 326) for the 4GB/64GB model and EUR 349 (~USD 408) for the high-end 6GB/128GB model. It comes in Back, Blue and Gold colour options.
- The Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite is priced at EUR 179 (~USD 209) for the 3GB/32GB model and EUR 229 (~USD 268) for the 4GB/64GB model. It also comes in Black, Blue and Gold colours.
This device has a huge fan following. It is launched worldwide at different prices in different states. The highest price we observed was in Europe and it has the stock Android which is a good thing.
