Ahead of the MIUI 8 and Mi Max launch on May 10, Xiaomi has announced a new smartwatch for kids – the Xiaomi Mi Bunny. It is the first smartwatch from the company but not the widely anticipated one. Also known as the Mitu Watch, it is available on Mi.com for a price tag of CNY 299 (US$46).
Sporting a plastic body and corning food-grade liquid silicone straps, the Xiaomi Mi Bunny Kids smartwatch has an LED dot matrix display, weighs in at 37 grams and is compatible with devices running Android 4.2 upwards. It comes equipped with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS/GLONASS and gravity sensor.
The device takes advantage of location tracking to determine the location of the child along with 7 seconds of recording the environment when the distress signal (SOS) button is tapped. Parents can also program it to send alerts when the child steps outside a pre-set safety area. It is backed by a 300mAh battery which promises up to 6 days on standby.
The waterproof Xiaomi Mi Bunny comes with a pre-loaded prepaid SIM card with various perks to makes voice calls and AW8155AFCR audio amplifier for clarity calls. It has an Anti-Disturb mode and calls can be filtered to prevent fraud.
