Summary
As expected with every sequel, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 brings a number of improvements over the Mi Max. Albeit an ultra narrow (0.7 mm) bezel on the side and change in placement of the antenna bands on the Mi Max 2, both devices sports a 6.44-inch FHD IPS 2.5D curved glass display and rear fingerprint sensor.
The MI Max 2 weighs slightly more (8 grams) and packs a bigger 5300mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 (USB Type-C) compared to the 4850mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0 (micro USB) on the Mi Max. Both come pre-installed with MIUI 8, however, the former is based on Android Nougat while the latter is Marshallow.
The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is equipped an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor with 4GB RAM and either 64GB or 128GB built-in storage, while the MI Max packs an octa-core Snapdragon 650 SoC with 3GB RAM and either 32GB or 64GB storage. Nonetheless, the company also launched the Mi Max Prime with 4GB RAM, Snapdragon 652 processor and 128GB built-in storage space.
Xiaomi also ditched the standard 16MP camera on the Xiaomi Mi Max for a 12MP camera with Sony IMX386 sensor with 1.25μm large pixel size – the same used on the flagship Xiaomi Mi 6. The front cameras remain a 5MP snapper with f/2.0 aperture and 85-degree wide angle lens for selfies.
Verdict
The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 obviously trounces the Mi Max especially with a better performing camera and a longer lasting battery life. With the pricing within the same range, the MI Max 2 is a better buy but the Mi Max is not bad option for those looking for a good phablet on a budget.
Thank you so much for comparing this two cell phones I was too much into confusion between this to cell phones but now some of by doubts are being cleared.
