Xiaomi officially unveiled the latest MI MIX series smartphone – the Xiaomi MI MIX 2S yesterday at a launch event in Shanghai, China. The MI MIX 2S has the features expected from today’s flagships such as dual rear cameras, fullscreen display and the high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile platform.
Pre-installed with Android 8.1 Oreo OS with MIUI 9 (also with AI Voice Assistant and Google ARCore support) the Xiaomi MI MIX 2S sports a 5.9-inch (2160 x 1080 pixels) Full HD+ 18:9 display with DCI-P3 color gamut, rear fingerprint sensor and ceramic body with aluminium body frame.
Photography is handled by the smartphone’s dual 12MP rear cameras. The primary camera has the Sony IMX363 sensor, 1.4µm pixel size, f/1.8 aperture, dual-tone LED flash, 4-axis OIS, Optical zoom and 4K video recording while the secondary telephoto camera has f/2.4 aperture, 2X Zoom, AI portraits and AI scene recognition.
The front facing 5MP camera with real-time AI portrait selfies and face unlock support has been moved to the down bottom. According to the company, the device scored 101 in DxO Mark for photo and 88 for video. The overall DxO Mark score is 97 which is behind the total score of the Huawei P20 Pro (109), Huawei P20 (102) and Samsung Galaxy S9+ (99).
The Xiaomi MI MIX 2S is available in multiple RAM and storage options: 8GB LPDDR4x RAM with 256GB (UFS 2.1) storage and 6GB LPDDR4x RAM with 64GB/128GB (UFS 2.1) storage. It has support for Dual 4G VoLTE connectivity along with 43 global bands and network support in 226 regions.
Power is supplied by a 3,400mAh battery with support for both Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging and 7.5W Qi wireless charging. The MI MIX 2S is now available for pre-order in Ceramic Black and Ceramic White colours, and will go on sale starting April 3.
