Xiaomi officially unveiled its first ever 5G smartphone – the Mi MIX 3 5G at this year’s edition of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The company also introduced the Xiaomi Mi 9 to the rest of the world, starting with Europe for a EUR 449 price tag.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G is partly based on the existing Mi MIX 3 but is now powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 7nm mobile platform paired with the Snapdragon X50 5G modem. It comes pre-loaded with MIUI 10 (based on Android 9 Pie) and depends on 3,800mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0+ fast charging and 10W Wireless charging.
The smartphone has a 6.39-inch Full HD+ 19.5:9 display with 103.8% NTSC Color Gamut and 600nits brightness. It also has a ceramic back, hybrid cooling system, rear fingerprint scanner and packs 6GB of RAM with the option of either 64GB or 128GB built-in (UFS 2.1) storage.
Photography is handled by a 12MP (f/1.8) + 12MP (f/2.4) dual rear cameras with and 24MP + 2MP dual front cameras. It will go on sale in May via authorised Mi stores and Mi.com priced lowly at EUR 599 / USD 679 and arrive in Onyx Black and Sapphire Blue colours. For the European launch, Xiaomi has teamed up with 3, Orange, Sunrise, Telefonica, Tim, and Vodafone.
