The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is now official. The company made the announcement at an event in China earlier today. The new phablet is the company’s latest flagship in the Note series and aims to impress with its sturdy build and premium look.
Powered by the high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 sports a 5.7-inch FHD Dual Curved OLED display with 77.2% screen-to-body ratio, 110% NTSC color gamut, series 7 aluminium body frame and a sizeable 4070mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 under the hood.
The device packs 6GB of RAM along with 128GB (UFS 2.0) internal storage and there is a cheaper model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal (UFS 2.0) storage. It has Dual Nano SIM slots, rear embedded fingerprint sensor and boots Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS with MIUI 8.
In the camera segment, there is a rear facing 22.56MP Sony IMX318 sensor with dual-tone LED Flash, EIS, 6-element lens, f/2.0 aperture and 4K video recording alongside a front facing 8MP AutoFocus camera with f/2.0 aperture, Sony IMX258 sensor and 76-degree field of view.
The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 has an Infrared sensor, supports 4G VoLTE and uses the USB Type-C port. In terms of pricing, the 4GB RAM/64GB storage model costs CNY 2799 yuan (US$ 410) while the 6GB RAM/128GB storage model costs 3299 yuan (US$ 486).
The international Mi Note 2 version with global LTE bands (6 types, 37 bands) is priced at 3499 yuan (US$ 516). All models come in either Piano Black or Glacier Silver colors, and will go on sale starting November 1st.
