Xiaomi has announced the Mi Pad successor – the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 with several improvements – it is more thinner (now 6.95mm compared to 8.5mm), lighter (now 322 grams compared to 360 grams) and comes with a USB Type-C port.
The Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 sports a 7.9-inch 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution display with a pixel density of 326ppi; it supports reading mode and prevents accidental presses especially when used in landscape mode. Under the hood, it is powered by a 64-bit Intel Atom X5-Z8500 processor clocked up to 2.24GHz with Intel HD Graphics, 2GB of RAM and either 16GB or 64GB built-in expandable storage space.
There is a rear facing 8MP camera and a front facing 5MP camera. It measures 200.4 x 132.6 x 6.95mm in dimensions, weighs 322 grams and is backed by a 6190mAh Lithium-ion Polymer battery with 5V/2A fast charging. It is expected to last up to 648.8 hours on standby, 100 hours of music playback time, 12.5 hours of reading and 12.5 hours of video streaming.
The 16GB model of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 costs RMB 999 (approx $156) and the 64GB model costs RMB 1299 (approx $203). It is available in Champagne Gold and Dark Grey colour options.
