The first tablet from Chinese Company Xiaomi, the Xiaomi Mi Pad has gone official and its the first device to be powered by the latest NVIDIA TEGRA K1 processor. The Mi Pad is very similar to the iPad mini in terms of screen resolution and size but the Mi Pad also competes seriously with tablets with 8-inch screens like the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 4 and the LG G Pad 8.3. The Xiaomi Mi Pad measures 202 x 135.4 x 8.5mm, weighs 360 grams slightly larger andheavier than the Apple iPad Mini 2 and its body is made of plastic instead of metal which is on the iPad Mini 2.

On the specs side, the Xiaomi Mi Pad features 7.9-Inch 2048 x 1536 pixel display with 326ppi, powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra K1 with a 2.2 GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 processor, 192-core Kepler GPU, 16GB & 64GB internal storage version expandable up to 128GB with micro SD support, 8MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture , 5MP front camera and running on Android 4.4.2 Kitkat with Xiaomi’s custom MIUI user interface.
In terms of connectivity, you get the usual suspects Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, as well a host of other sensors. The battery capacity of the Mi Pad is the non-removable 6700mAh which guarantees 86hours of music playing and 11 hours of video playback.

The Xiaomi Mi Pad would be available starting June in different colours including Pinkish-Red, Grey, White, Yellow and bright green. The 16GB version costs $240/CN¥1,499 and the 64GB version cost $270/CN¥1,699 while the 16GB retina iPad Mini currently retails on Amazon for $379. The Price is expected to be higher if it ever makes it out of China but its international availability is looking unlikely.
