Top Chinese smartphone vendor, Xiaomi has announced the a new protection plan for its smartphones and tablets in India. Dubbed the Xiaomi Mi Protect, the Insurance policy covers the Xiaomi Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime, Mi 4i , Mi 4 and the Mi Pad for a period of one year.
The Xiaomi Mi Protect is bought separately and covers accidental damages – Falling, Extrusion & Collision as well as liquid damages. Once the user opts for the plan, the device gets home pickup and drop service for free. Users will be able to block their SIM from anywhere in the world, claim a SIM misuse insurance cover of Rs 3,000 and have up to 2 claims.
The plan also includes Docusafe which contains up to 1GB of cloud storage to save content from anywhere in the world. In case of any occurrence, the user needs to call the Mi Protect customer service team on 1800 407 333333 or 1800 1233330 or 8080 333333. Xiaomi has teamed up with OneAssist to arrange for the device to be picked up and repaired.
The Xiaomi Mi Protect will be available for the more affordable Redmi 2 and Redmi 2 Prime for a price tag of $275 and the slightly-higher price Mi 4i, Mi 4 and Mi Pad for $499.
