Earlier today while celebrating its 5th Year Anniversary, Xiaomi announced the Xiaomi Redmi 2A smartphone which has surfaced in different leaks due to its choice of a Leadcore chipset. The Redmi 2A is basically the Xiaomi Redmi 2 with a LeadCore chipset instead of the Qualcomm snapdragon 410 Soc.
The Xiaomi Redmi 2A is powered by a quad-core LeadCore L1860C processor which clocks at 1.5GHz with Mali T628MP2 GPU,1GB of RAM, 8GB space of internals storage, Dual SIM slots, 4.7-inch HD IPS display. Other details includes – LTE support, runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat OS with MIUI 6.0 ontop, 2200mAh battery and suports Dual SIM functionality with Dual Standby. There are also variants compatible with network bands for China Unicom and China Telecom.

There is also a special price discount coming up on April 8th for just $80 (CNY 499). There is no word on when the company plans to unveil the device in other markets especially India.
