Xiaomi has officially announced the Xiaomi Redmi 3 – the budget smartphone is the latest from the company’s Redmi series and packs a sizeable battery capacity. It will be available in China starting January 12th (tomorrow) for a price of CNY 699 (approx USD 107) in Classic Grey, Dark Grey, Gold and Silver colour options.
Housed in a full magnesium alloy metal body with unibody design, the Xiaomi Redmi 3 measures 8.5mm thick, weighs 144 grams in size and packs an ample sized 4100mAh battery. It sports a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display with a pixel density of 294ppi and clearly visible when used under sunight.
The Redmi 3 is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 MSM8939 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz with 2GB RAM, 16GB built-in expandable storage space and runs MIUI 7 (based on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS). The device has an Hybrid Dual SIM slot (micro + Nano/microSD) with the second SIM slot also acting as the microSD card slot (up to 128GB).
In the camera segment, the device has a rear facing 13MP f/2.0 camera with Phase Detection AutoFocus (PDAF) and LED Flash; the front snapper is a 5MP camera with f/2.2 aperture. Both cameras are capable of recording 1080p Full HD videos. Connectivity options on the Xiaomi Redmi 3 includes – 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS/ GLONASS.
