Chinese-based Xiaomi has announced a new higher variant of the Redmi 3 with 3GB of RAM and 32GB built-in storage space. Dubbed the Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro, the 5-inch device will be launched on April 6th for a price tag of CNY 899 (US$ 138).
The Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro runs MIUI v7.0 (based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS) but will be upgradable to MIUI V7.2 when it is officially available. It relies on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 64-bit processor clocked at 1.6GHz with Adreno 405 GPU handling graphics.
The device sports a magnesium-alloy metal body build in Gold, Grey or Silver colour options and a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display with a pixel density of 294 ppi. It is backed by a non-removable 4100mAh battery which should last about a day or more of usage and support for 5V/2A fast charging.
For photography, the Dual SIM enabled Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro packs a front facing 5MP camera with f/2.2 aperture for selfies and a rear facing 13MP camera with 5-element lens and Phase Detection AutoFocus (PDAF). The Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro supports 4G LTE connectivity and is equipped with a fingerprint scanner just below the main camera on the rear.
