Xiaomi has launched the premium looking affordable Redmi 3S smartphone variants in India. The Xiaomi Redmi 3S and Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime are available starting August 9 and 16 for a price tag of Rs. 6999 (US$ 105) and Rs. 8999 (US$ 135) respectively.
The Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime packs 3GB of RAM, 32GB built-in storage space and a fingerprint sensor for unlocking the device while the Xiaomi Redmi 3S sports 2GB of RAM and 16GB storage space but no fingerprint sensor. Both options share the specs in common and don an all metal unibody design with rounded edges.
Both variants are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 Octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz, boot MIUI 7 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS and sports a 5-inch display with 1280 x 720 pixels (HD) screen resolution. Either measures 139.3 x 69.6 x 8.5 mm in dimensions and weigh 144 grams.
For photography, there is a rear placed 13MP camera with LED Flash, PDAF, and f/2.0 aperture while the front snapper is a 5MP camera with f/2.2 aperture for selfies and video chats. Both cameras record 1080p videos @ 30fps. The Redmi 3S has Hybrid Dual SIM slot, supports 4G LTE networks with VoLTE and backed by a 4000mAh – 4100mAh battery.
