Chinese device maker, Xiaomi has announced two new product offerings – the Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro and Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 for the Chinese market. The former is the upgrade to the recently announced Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A smartphones, while the tablet is the successor to last year’s Mi Pad 3.
The duo are both powered by octa-core Qualcomm processors and front facing 5MP cameras with Face Unlock.
Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro
The Redmi 6 Pro is the latest mid-range Xiaomi smartphone to arrive with a fullscreen display. It sports a notched 5.84-inch FHD+ 19:9 curved glass display with 84% NTSC Color Gamut, dual Nano SIM slots, rear fingerprint sensor, IR sensor, Xiao AI voice assistant, 3.5mm audio jack and a lasting 4,000mAh battery.
Internally, the smartphone relies on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 14nm octa-core processor and runs Android 8.1 Oreo OS with MIUI 10 on top. Photography is handled by the 12MP (PDAF, f/2.2, 1.25um pixel size) + 5MP (f/2.2, 1.12um pixel size) dual rear cameras with AI portraits and AI scene detection. For selfies, there is a front facing 5MP camera with AI portrait and AI Face unlock.
Available Black, Blue, Gold, Red and Rose Gold colours, the Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro is available on sale in China. The 3GB RAM with 32GB storage model starts at CNY 999 (~ USD 151); the 4GB RAM with 32GB storage model for CNY 1,199 (~ USD 181) and the highest model (4GB RAM with 4GB storage) for CNY 1,299 (~ USD 196).
Xiaomi Mi Pad 4
Housed in a full metal body with curved edges, the Mi Pad 4 packs a larger 8-inch (1920 x 1200 pixels) WUXGA display with 16:10 aspect ratio, rear 13MP (f/2.0) camera, front 5MP (f/2.0) camera with Face Unlock, 4G VoLTE connectivity (optional), USB Type-C port and a 6,000mAh battery.
The tablet is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE processor and boots Android 8.1 Oreo OS with MIUI 9 on top. It comes in Wi-Fi and 4G LTE models, 3GB RAM with 32GB storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. Both storage options are expandable up to 256GB via microSD card.
The Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 has gone on sale (June 27) in China in Black and Gold colours. The 3GB RAM (Wi-Fi) model starts at CNY 1,099 (~ USD 166); the 4GB RAM (Wi-Fi) for CNY 1,399 (~ USD 211) and the 4GB RAM (4G LTE – TDD-LTE and FDD-LTE) sells for CNY 1,499 (~ USD 226).
