While most of the populace expected the Redmi Note 2 Prime, Xiaomi has announced the $127 (Rs 8499) priced Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime in India. It is said to be the second smartphone manufactured in India (Sri City, Andhra Pradesh) by the Chinese company in partnership with Foxconn.
Powered by a 64-bit Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2GHz with Adreno 306 GPU, the Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime sports a 5.5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB built-in storage space which is expandable up to 32GB via a microSD slot.
For photography, there is a 13MP camera with f/2.2 aperture, LED flash and records 1080p Full HD videos; for selfies there is a front facing 5MP camera. For crystal clear calls and noise reduction purpose, the device has Dual Mic. It supports 2G GSM, 3G WCDMA and 4G LTE networks as well as Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and GPS.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime has Dual SIM slots, measures 154 x 78.7 x 9.45mm in dimensions, weighs 185 grams, runs MIUI 7 based on Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS and is backed by a removable 3100mAh battery which should last long enough. It is sold exclusively via Mi.com and Amazon.in
