The ‘Apple of China’ – Xiaomi has confirmed it would stop the sales of its products in India due to a ban placed on it by a New Delhi High Court. This is as a result of the Chinese smartphone maker infringing upon Ericsson’s Standard Essential Patents (SEPs) the country.
The company in a Google Post by Xiaomi VP International, Hugo Barra;
“We have been forced to suspend sales in India until further notice due to an order passed by the Delhi High Court. As a law abiding company, we are investigating the matter carefully and assessing our legal options.”
Xiaomi has made its presence felt in India with the sales of the Xiaomi Redmi 1S, Mi 3 and the Redmi Note. Each of these devices are sold in a series of flash sales marketing in partner with one of India’s largest retailer, Flipkart.
