Yezz Mobile has made a fanfare entrance in the Nigerian market; the Miami (US) based company which is experiencing much success in Latin American markets is looking to expand its tentacles in Europe and in Africa where it is expecting to grow more.
Commenting on the launch of Yezz Mobile in Nigeria, Robert Schiano, Yezz Managing Director in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) said;
“The African market offers considerable growth prospects. Studies show that the number of smartphones sold by 2017 will double to 350 million units.
With Yezz brand, we have the ambition, portfolio and capabilities to be a major player in Africa in the mobile phone sector. With Nigeria being one of the most significant markets in Africa as well as globally, we are highly motivated to showcase the Yezz brand offering to the discerning Nigerian consumer.”
To give customers a wide range of smartphones choice to choose from; Yezz Mobile has announced it would be bringing Android, Windows Phone and Firefox OS based smartphone; which would in turn provide value for money, right balance of features, performance and design.
The company would be bringing the already announced – WP based Yezz Billy 4.7, Yezz Billy 4, Yezz Andy 5T, Yezz Andy 6M and a feature phone – the Yezz C21 to Nigeria. The smartphones would be sold exclusively via Konga.com and each smartphone comes with 3 to 4 additional back covers in different colour options.
Yezz Mobile has partnered with TD Mobile as the exclusive distributor, who would then in turn list the device up on Konga.com during the launch period. The company would also in turn partner with Yudala and Key Opcos to push the device into several open retail channels.
Competition they say is good for business, we will definitely see how Yezz Mobile tough it out with the local market’s current champions Infinix, Innjoo and Tecno.
Which Firefox OS phone will they be selling
Yezz Mobile didn’t give any specific Firefox OS smartphone yet but the company currently has the Yezz Foxy 4 and Yezz Foxy 3.5 which runs the OS.
However, it might take time before we see them launch as the company would want to gain a foothold first.
