ZTE has unveiled two 2021 flagship smartphones – the Axon 30 Ultra and Axon 30 Pro in China. Both 5G phones have the same 6.67-inch AMOLED display, however the Ultra has a 3D curved panel and 144Hz refresh rate while the Pro has a flat panel and 120Hz refresh rate. Both displays have HDR 10/HDR 10+ support, 20:9 aspect ratio, 300 touch sampling rate and adaptable filter light. They come preloaded with MyOS 11 (Android 11) and powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G mobile platform paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage space.
The ZTE Axon 30 Ultra models with rear glass covering are available in Black, Mint and White colours while the faux leather back option arrive in a single Light Brown colour. The ZTE Axon 30 Pro model is available in Black and White colours. Both models are now available in China and the international versions will arrive in May.

ZTE Axon 30 Ultra
The Axon 30 Ultra has a pro-grade quad rear camera setup which includes the Trinity Camera System (3x 64MP main sensors). The three main cameras include 64MP (f/1.6, OIS, Sony IMX686) wide-angle, 64MP (f/2.2, 120°, Samsung GW3) ultra-wide angle and 64MP (f/1.9, Samsung GW3) portrait lens. The trio are joined by an 8MP (OIS) periscope camera to deliver 5x optical zoom, and 60x hybrid zoom. The phone’s 2.6mm wide punch-hole notch holds the 16MP selfie camera.
The trinity cameras on the Ultra can shoot 8K videos @30fps and supports both Super Night AI and Super Moon Modes. The rest of the specs include 5G SA/NSA, Wi-FI 6E, NFC, Blurtooth 5.2 and a 4,600mAh battery with 66W fast charging support. Pricing starts at CNY 4698 for the 8GB + 256GB model; CNY 4998 for the 12GB + 256GB model and the Limited Edition (16GB + 1TB) cost CNY 6666.
ZTE Axon 30 Pro
The other key difference between the Ultra and Pro models are in the rear camera and battery section. The Pro’s quad rear camera system retains two of the 64MP sensors (wide-angle and ultra-wide angle) alongside a 5MP macro and 2MP depth sensing lens. Power is supplied by a 4,200mAh battery with 55W fast charging. Pricing starts at CNY 2998 for the 6GB + 128GB model; CNY 3298 for the 8GB + 128GB model and CNY 3598 for the 8GB + 256GB model.
