ZTE has officially announced its new flagship smartphone – the ZTE Axon Phone for the Chinese market at the Water Cube in Beijing. The company also announced the ZTE Axon Lux, ZTE Axon Mini, ZTE Axon Watch and also brought the ZTE Spro 2 to China.
The ZTE Axon for China has the same design but als has some differences compared to that which debut in the US. The classic ZTE Axon for China has a fingerprint scanner below the camera and now comes with a faux leather like covering for the top and bottom of the device.
The basic ZTE Axon sports a 5.5-inch 1080p TFT LCD display with Corning Antimicrobial Gorilla Glass protection paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB space of expandable internal storage. The premium model is the ZTE Axon Lux which sports a 5.5-inch QHD display, has 4GB of RAM and 128GB space of expandable internal storage.
The ZTE Axon Lux (along with the ZTE Axon) features three different biometric authentication options and it is first smartphone in the world to have all three – voice unlocking, eye scanner and fingerprint recognition in place.
Both devices runs MiFavor 3.2, has a Dual Rear camera setup (13MP + 2MP), front facing 8MP camera, Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3000mAh battery, Dual SIM slots, microSD card slot, 4G LTE and the rest of the specs are pretty much the same.
The ZTE Axon Lux is much more costlier than the basic model, it sells for CNY 3888 ($625) and the basic model costs CNY 2699 ($435) on ZTE’s online store.
The ZTE Axon Watch sports a 1.4-inch (400 x 400 pixels) Circular AMOLED Gorilla Glass display with Sapphire coating, powered by a Qualcomm APQ8026 processor, can serve as fitness and health monitoring watch and is IP67 certified for waterproof and dustproof.
It weighs 49 grams and measures 11.5mm thick. The ZTE Axon Watch runs TenCentOS which supports voice and gesture control and more. The device measures 11.5mm in thickness and is backed by 300mAh. The Axon Watch has 512MB RAM, 4GB of internal storage and has Bluetooth 4.1.
ZTE briefly touched on the issue of the ZTE Axon Mini, the device is expected to have a 5.2-inch super AMOLED display compared to 5.5-inch on the Axon. Other specs details of the device is unknown but the release says it would be available in the near future.
The company also launched the already announced ZTE Spro 2 projector in China for CNY 3699; the device has a 5-inch touchscreen display and has integrated voice control which let users bark out command to the projector.
