MetroPCS has teamed up with ZTE USA to announce the imminent arrival of a new budget smartphone – the ZTE Blade Z Max. It could be said to be an upgrade over the ZTE Blade X Max with a similar dual camera setup and seems to be the direct replacement to last year’s ZTE ZMax Pro.
The ZTE Blade Z Max has a 6-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) FHD IPS LCD display with a scratch-resistant 2.5D Dragontrail Glass screen and backed by a 4,080mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 mobile platform and expected to last up to 31 hours of talk time.
For photography, it combines a rear primary 16MP camera with a secondary 2MP camera to provide bokeh effect and other cool features such as panorama mode and time-lapse. The front camera is a 8MP snapper with smoothing beauty mode.
The ZTE Blade Z Max packs 2GB of RAM, 32GB built-in storage space (expandable up to 128GB via microSD), USB-C port and boots Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS. It also has a rear fingerprint sensor and supports 4G LTE connectivity, however, it lacks NFC thus cannot support Android Pay.
With closely similar specs as the ZTE Max XL (Boost Mobile), the Blade Z Max is also priced at $129 (MSRP). MetroPCS is currently receiving registrations for the device which is expected to go on sale on August 28. Those who pre-register (before August 27) and buy the phone (between August 28 and September 26) will get free $25 Google Play Gift Card.
