Joining the likes of Samsung (Gear 360) and LG (LG Family) which both launched one or more accessories to go along with their new phone. ZTE announced a complementary accessory to go along with the ZTE Axon 7 flagship called the ZTE VR. The headset will sell for a price tag of CNY 518 (USD 79 or EUR 71).
Like most VR headsets, the ZTE VR works like the Samsung Gear VR; this mean the Axon 7 will fit into the headset and delivers superior experience to users. It is not clear, if the ZTE VR is Daydream-compatible since it is not built using Google’s reference design but the Axon 7 is compatible and will make the upgrade to Android N when it is available this Fall.
The new headset has a five-piece glass configuration, 9-axis gyroscope built-in for enhanced motion tracking and a couple of buttons around the body. It measures 185.3 x 85.3 x 76.7 mm in dimensions, 35 mm in diameter, weighs about 255 grams (headset only), has 96-degrees field of view and claims an 18-millisecond delay.
ZTE expects the ZTE VR headset to complement the QHD AMOLED display on the ZTE Axon 7 and utilises the Hi-Fi Audio and built-in speakers with Dolby Atmos surround.
