Following the launch of the Blade Max 3 ($200), ZTE USA has unveiled another prepaid smartphone – the ZTE Max XL. The phablet is available unlocked for $130 (MSRP) and sold on Boost Mobile’s 2GB plan (plus unlimited talk and text) for $30 with auto-renew or $35 without auto-renew. A version will also be available for Sprint and Virgin Mobile.
As the name suggests, the ZTE Max features a lage 6-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display with Gorilla Glass, rear fingerprint sensor and relies on a lasting 3390mAh battery (up to 26.6 hours of talk time). It comes pre-installed with Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS and is equipped with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor with Adreno 505 GPU.
The device also packs a RAM of 2GB, 16GB built-in storage space, microUSB 2.0 and a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 128GB. On the camera front, there is a rear facing 13MP camera with LED flash and a front facing 5MP camera for selfies and video chat.
The ZTE Max XL supports LTE+ and is the first device tailored specifically to support Sprint’s HPUE (High Performance User Equipment standard) technology.
