ZTE has officially announced the ZTE Star 2; the device packs some top of the line specs and full voice recognition controls. Some days ago we spotted a device which was supposed to be the upcoming ZTE Star 2 on TENAA but this has turned out quite different.
The ZTE Star 2 retains most of the specs from its predecessor, the ZTE Star 1 which was announced back in April. The phone lets you make calls, control the camera, launch and exit apps, and several other functions using the device’s voice control. The voice control is also very responsive as it responds in just 1.2 Seconds and recognise commands 90% of the time.
The Star 2 packs a 13MP camera with Sony’s Fourth generation sensor, Dual LED flash and a front facing 5MP snapper. The device uses a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocking at 2.3GHz with 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot and 4G LTE support.
The ZTE Star 2 has Aluminium chamfered edges and glass covering on its back which gives it a premium feel. It measures 6.9mm in thickness, a 5-inch Full HD display (1920 x 1080 pixels), runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat OS with the company’s MiFavour 3.0 Skin on-top.
Touching back to the highlight of the device which is its Voice control. Even though the smartphone has been set up to work with Mandarin language it still managed to impress while it was set up in English Language. The voice control features are however not ready for the US, UK and Australia.
ZTE stands ahead of the like of Xiaomi and Huawei with the fully integrated voice controls on this device; some sources even reports the company used 1000 pieces of patented technology into the Star 2.
The ZTE Star 2 is available for purchase in China for RMB 2499 (around $400 / £260 / NN80,00 in Naira / €326). There is no word on its global availability yet.
This is magnificent but one major issue is it won’t get to Nigeria on time and if it does get here – some other better device would already be in circulation.
