Popular Chinese based manufacturer, ZTE has officially announced the ZTE ZMAX 2 phablet, it is the successor to 5.7-inch ZTE ZMAX which was announced for T-Mobile around this month last year. This time around the device will be exclusively available from AT&T and TracFone in the US for $149.99 (sans contract) starting September 25th in Black colour option only.
Running Android 5.1 Lollipop OS out-of-the-box, the ZTE ZMAX 2 sports a 5.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (HD). It is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 processor clocked at 1.2GHz paired with Adreno 306 GPU, 2GB of RAM and 16GB space of internal storage.
For additional storage, there is a microSD card slot supporting cards up to 32GB. For handling photography, there is a 8MP Autofocus rear facing camera with LED flash and front-facing 2MP camera for selfies, video chats. Connectivity options available includes – GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and 4G LTE/3G HSPA+.
The ZTE ZMAX 2 measures 154 x 76 x 9.4 mm in dimensions, weighs 170 grams and is backed by an ample 3000mAh battery which should provide enough juice to last some hours.
Commenting at the launch event, Chairman and CEO, ZTE USA, Lixin Cheng said;
“The original ZTE ZMAX set the stage for the phablet market as it was the first large screen Android device with high end features at an affordable price. With the ZMAX 2, we will continue to deliver the best low-cost Android phones in the US that people actually enjoy using”.
