After weeks of leaks and speculation, the ZUK Edge has finally gone official. The new flagship from Lenovo’s sub-brand boots Android 7.0 Nougat OS out-of-the-box with the company’s ZUI 2.5 on top and has gone on pre-order in China. It is expected to go on sale starting January 1st, 2017.
Sporting a chic looking body design & 2.5D curved glass back covering, the ZUK Edge sports a 5.5-inch 1080p FHD display with 85% NTSC color gamut, 1500: 1 contrast ratio, 86.4% screen-to-body ratio and a narrow 1.63mm frame. It uses the USB Type-C port and is backed by a 3000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0.
Under the hood, the device relies on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor paired along with 6GB of RAM and 64GB UFS 2.0 internal storage space. Handling photography is a rear 13MP camera with LED flash, Samsung ISOCELL sensor, PDAF and f/2.2 aperture alongside a front placed 8MP camera with 1.12μm pixel size and f/2.2 aperture.
The ZUK Edge has a heart rate sensor and U-Touch fingerprint sensor, for secured mobile payments using Alipay, PayPay and more as well as unlocking the phone in 0.09 second. It has Dual Nano SIM slots, supports 4G VoLTE, Dual Band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1 and Dirac HD Sound for Hi-Fi audio.
Pricing for the Edge starts at CNY 2299 (US$ 330) for the 4GB RAM version while the 6GB RAM version costs CNY 2499 (US$ 360). The ZUK Edge L – a custom Lee Min Ho endorsement version will also be available. Ceramic White and Titanium Black are the available colour option.
