Lenovo and Qihoo 36 owned brand, ZUK has officially announced its first smartphone – the ZUK Z1. The phablet sized device is already listed on the official website and is expected to go on sale in China for a price tag of ¥1799 (~ $285/€258) in White and Grey colour options.
With much of the device focused on the software, the ZUK Z1 runs on a customised version of Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with the company’s ZUI ontop. The device also makes use of oval shaped home button used by most Meizu devices where the fingerprint scanner is incorporated for added security.
The Z1 sports a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display, powered by a not-so-dated quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz with Adreno 330, 3GB of RAM and 64GB space of internal storage; with around 54GB user available and no microSD card slot.
Moving to the camera, it sports a 13MP rear camera with Sony IMX214 sensor, f/2.2 aperture and Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS). The front camera is 8MP snapper with OmniVision sensor for selfies. Connectivity options on the ZUK Z1 includes USB Type-C 3.0 (for charging and wireless connectivity), 4G LTE, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
Like most smartphones released nowadays, the ZUK Z1 is Dual-SIM enabled; it weighs 175 grams, measures 155.7 x 77.3 x 8.9 mm in dimensions and is backed by a 4100mAh battery with fast charging technology which is expected to last up to 3 days of mixed usage.
Extra: People would be quick to point that it uses the 32-bit Qualcomm processor instead of the recent 64-bit; the Snapdragon 808 would have been preferable but obviously to keep the price down they have to go for Snapdragon 801.
