At its Made By Google 2022 event, Google announced its obvious new flagships – Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel 7, as well as a smartwatch – the Pixel Watch. The trio are available for pre-order on the Google Store from A$ 1,299 (US$ 899), A$ 999 (US$ 599) and A$ 549 (US$ 349) respectively in over 15 countries including Australia, Canada, the US and UK.

Powered by the 2nd-gen Google Tensor G2, The new Pixel smartphones both have aluminium body build, stereo speakers, Corning Gorilla Victus Glass covering, 10.8MP (92.8-degree FOV) selfie camera, IP68 rating, 3x microphones with noise cancellation and come pre-loaded with Android 13. Both models are equipped with the Titan M2 security chip to keep on-device information safe and secure alongside face unlock and in-display fingerprint sensor.
The Pixel 7 has shrunk down slightly from a 6.4-inch to a 6.3-inch FHD+ display and comes in a new Lemongrass colour alongside Obsidian and Snow. While the Pixel 7 Pro dons a 6.7-inch QHD+ display and arrives in a new Hazel colour alongside Snow and Obsidian. The former has a 4,355mAh battery with 30W fast charging while the latter has a 5,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging, wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.
The Pro model’s protruding camera bar holds the triple camera system with a primary 50MP (f/1.85, OIS + EIS, 82-degree FOV) Octa PD Quad Bayer wide camera paired with 12MP (f/2.2, 128.5-degree FOV) ultra-wide and 48MP telephoto (f/3.5, 5x optical zoom) units. The standard model only has the 50MP (f/1.85, OIS + EIS, 82-degree FOV) Octa PD Quad Bayer wide camera and 12MP (f/2.2, 128.5-degree FOV) ultra-wide cameras.
Both the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro will get VPN by Google One (free of charge) later this year.
Google Pixel Watch
Google Pixel Watch is the tech company’s first in-house built smartwatch. It is also the first official companion watch for the Pixel range of devices. It combines the technology of Google (Wear OS, Google Home app, Google Assistant) and Fitbit’s health and fitness features. As expected, the smartwatch can perform a wide range of activities ranging from showing notifications, making contactless payments to getting direction from Google Maps.
Priced starting at A$ 549 (US$ 349), the Pixel Watch has a circular design with 3D-coverglass (41mm diameter) and premium stainless steel in black, gold and silver. There are up to 19 customizable watch faces, a side button, tactile crown and the watch itself is both water-resistant (up to 5 ATM/50 meters) and scratch-resistant. It also offers GPS, 4G LTE, Bluetooth + Wi-Fi connectivity with heart rate tracking, blood oxygen and ECG monitoring.
Like the new Apple Watch Series 8, the smartwatch also has Emergency SOS and Fall Detection will arrive sometime next year. The integration of Fitbit technology provides accurate heart rate tracking and 40 exercise modes, including step counting and Active Zone Minutes. The Pixel Watch lasts up to 24 hours of mixed usage and is not only compatible with Pixel Phones, but also other smartphones running Android 8.0 (and above).
Other Products – Pixel Tablet and Nest Products
- Google also previewed the first Pixel Tablet, which is expected to arrive in 2023. It will be powered by the Google Tensor G2 and feature a a charging Speaker Dock, which will offer both audio and charging experience.
- Google’s Nest division also announced the Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) and Nest Wifi Pro router.
